ABSTRACT ART #5 – AMSTERDAM – 2012
A flyer claiming that ‘a deadly accident occurred at the red climbing wall’ was distributed around the abstract sculpture of Alfred Eikelenboom. People were asked to contact the local government and ask for safer climbing holds and the presence of a supervisor.
CLIMBING WALL MEEUWENLAAN IS TOO DANGEROUS!
Again a deadly accident occurred at the red climbing wall at the Gedempte Insteekhaven / Meeuwenlaan. This has to stop!
There is no supervision at all and everybody (young & old) can go climbing without professional guidance. That is asking for trouble!
Does the city council intend to do something about it or are they waiting for more fatalities?
We propose to add a trajectory of colourful climbing holds, as is common with other climbing walls.
According to us the only way to avoid accidents by unexperienced climbers is the presence of a supervisor.
We ask everyone to contact the city council (by email or tel.) to ask for better climbing holds and for the recruitment of a supervisor.
Let’s join hands to make our neighbourhood a safer place!
